This spicy song derives influences from the "mainland of Calypso", Trinidad, as well as Jamaica. Artists such as the Mighty Sparrow and Lord Kitchener have utilized this rhythmic pattern very much. the plot surrounds a lover making a plea to his unyielding charming mate.
He feels that his love for her is genuinely sincere, and because of this he sees no reasons why she should deny him her favors... even though they are not officially man and wife as yet. "Thing" in this song refers to "Love", as is clearly stated in the opening line of the song. But quite understandably in Calypso idium a word such as "Thing" can assume other interpretation.
lyrics
That thing called "love" does create much concern.
Like when you give but recive no return.
I wonder, if ever, we could find true happiness,
If you keep your love from me.
You should never, never... keep that thing from me.
Some people say our romance can't be true.
Until the day we both say "I do."
But I wonder, if ever you expect to be my bride,
Yet keep your "love" from me?
You should never, never ... keep that thing from me.
